Back by popular demand our summer groups will include our Social Group (Ages 2-18), Elementary Reading Group, Pre-K & Kindergarten Literacy Groups, Handwriting Groups & our new Fine Motor Boot Camp!

Pediatric Speech Therapy Associates is committed to providing experiences for children to learn and fine-tune skills within a fun-filled group environment. Our creative programs provide your child with wonderful opportunities for typical childhood experiences that build self-esteem and encourage social/emotional development. Each group is developed and facilitated by an occupational, physical, and/or speech therapist.

Overview of Groups

Handwriting Group – Ages 5-7
Mondays @ 10:30am (60 Minutes)
Description: Handwriting Group is an eight week group focusing on facilitating and strengthening good handwriting characteristics, as well as promoting proper grasp development. The group is one hour in duration: 50 minutes of facilitated handwriting instruction with peers and 10 minutes of parent education provided with handouts and exercises for home.

Reading Group – Ages 6-10
Description: Reading Group is an eight week group focusing on developing phonological and comprehension skills. Each session will incorporate a systematic multisensory approach to sounds and symbols including segmenting, blending and sequencing sounds. Children will have the opportunity to explore concepts through books and demonstrate comprehension of main idea and details in stories. The group is one hour in duration: 50 minutes of reading instruction and 10 minutes of parent education.

Early Literacy Group – Ages 4-5
Thursdays @ 2:35pm (60 Minutes)
Description: Description: Early Literacy Group is an eight week group focusing on developing phonological awareness and comprehension skills. Children will have the opportunity to explore concepts through books and demonstrate comprehension through story retell and various other language activities. The group is one hour in duration: 50 minutes of literacy awareness and 10 minutes of parent education.

Fine Motor Boot Camp – Ages 4-6
Wednesday @ 9:20am (60 Minutes)
Description: Our fine motor boot camp is a four week group focusing on critical fine motor skills needed to achieve independence in dressing, feeding and grooming skills, as well as prepare them to be successful with handwriting. The group is one hour in duration: 50 minutes of strengthening and dexterity activities to promote fine motor skills with peers and 10 minutes of parent education provided with handouts and exercises for home.

Social Skills Group – Early Elementary – Ages 5-7
Thursday @ 8:45am (60 Minutes)
Description: Early Elementary Social Skills Group is an eight week group focusing on basic social skills including facilitating and strengthening peer interactions and self-regulation skills, making good choices, expressing feelings, and responding to situations appropriately. The group is one hour in duration: 50 minutes of group therapy and 10 minutes of parent education.

Social Skills Group – Late Elementary – Ages 8-10
Wednesday @ 11:05am (60 Minutes)
Description: Late Elementary Social Skills Group is an eight week group focusing on facilitating and strengthening social skills, self-regulating, and turn-taking through group games and activities. The group will focus on peer interaction, including making and maintaining friendships. The group is one hour in duration: 50 minutes of social peer interactions and 10 minutes of parent education.

Social Skills Group – Pre-Teens – Ages 11-13
Thursday @ 1:25pm (90 Minutes)
Description: Pre-Teen Social Skills Group is a four week group focusing on self-regulation and facilitating and strengthening social skills while understanding figurative language. The group will focus on peer interaction, which will be fostered and encouraged from the therapists. The group is 90 minutes in duration: 80 minutes of social peer interactions and 10 minutes of parent education.

Social Skills Group – Youth – Ages 14-18
Tuesday @ 12:45pm (90 Minutes)
Description: Youth Social Skills Group is a four week group focusing on self-regulation and facilitating and strengthening social skills in teenagers. The group will focus on peer interaction, including perspective taking, developing and maintaining friendships, and social skills needed for the workplace. The group is 90 minutes in duration: 80 minutes of social peer interactions and 10 minutes of parent education.
